Master Bathroom Remodel Week 5 Update

Welcome back to our master bathroom remodel project. We are in week 5 of the One Room Challenge. An extra week was added to the challenge so I am back to 2 weeks to go until the final reveal. Only 2 weeks to go!!!

Last week was a big week for tile. This was huge because there is so much tile in this room!

Here is a shot of the marble floors as well as the paint before the wainscoting trim was added.

MASTER BATHROOM REMODEL WEEK 5

With the end of this project quickly approaching, it was critical for us to stay on track this week. Our goals for this week included:

1. Finish the tile in the shower – done
2. Install the cabinet – done
3. Install the counter top and sink – done
4. Finish the shower curb – done
5. Have the glass company complete measurements for the glass surround – done
6. Start the wainscoting trim – done

Let’s talk about what we finished.

The shower tile is finally in. It is completely grouted as well, even thought that cannot be deduced from this shot. I love it so much. All the white contrasts so well with the light gray walls.

Let’s talk about the cabinet and the countertop.

The cabinet is an off-the-shelf cabinet we purchased from The Home Depot. It is full of charm despite the small price tag. I like the detailing on the doors. It is difficult to see from this view, but the cabinet will have one door and two drawers. It isn’t a ton of storage space, but it will be fine for day to day use. All of the overflow can be stored in the guest bath just outside our master bedroom.

This countertop! It is a carrara marble remnant. There was plenty for both the sink, the side and back splash, as well as the top of the pony wall. I was so terribly afraid when we picked it out that the veining was going to look too busy. Now that it is installed, I love it so very much!

On the counter is a sneak peak at the light cover on the light fixture. It looks like a rocks glass from a fancy restaurant. I just love the cut glass. It is gorgeous!

The room is not quite finished, but it is well on its way. In this shot you can see the white wainscoting, the stone on the pony wall, and the grouted shower wall tile.

GOALS FOR NEXT WEEK

The ORC is allowing us to have an extra week to finalize our rooms. I have my fingers crossed that I don’t need the time. I want to use this bathroom! However, I still don’t have the items I ordered from Serina and Lily a couple of weeks ago; those design elements might be delayed.

Our to-do list for this week:

1. Have glass installed
2. Final paint touch-ups
3. Install the light fixture over the cabinet
4. Install the mirror
5. Install faucets
6. Install the toilet
7. Install toilet paper holder, hand towel rack, towel racks, and add other decorative elements
