Advent Calendar Reveal | Lemon Drop Martini

There are 23 more days until Christmas!  It is time to put up the tree and decorate the house.  It is also time to open another bag!

Today’s advent bag contains Morey Limoncello liqueur.  Morey Limoncello is made from the zest of lemons, giving it a sweet lemon flavor.   Not a big fan of lemonade?  Skip this drink.

THE DRINK | LEMON DROP MARTINI

I am new to Limoncello.  I was attracted to this liqueur because of the beautiful glass bottle.  However, I am not new to a lemon drop.  Lemon drops are typically a sweet, lemon-based shot commonly consumed by young women at college bars.  I know this because I have consumed more than my fair share as a twenty-something.  Not so many as a thirty-something.  If you loved lemon drops in your youth, you are going to enjoy the grownup version: lemon drop martini.

I don’t enjoy my drinks on the strong side, so I typically add more juice than liquor.  If you enjoy a stronger beverage, feel free to change the ratios.

The Drink

• 1 shot of vodka
• 1 shot of Limoncello
• 1 shot of triple sec
• 3 ounces of Simply Lemonade 

For the Garnish

• 1 teaspoon of decorating sugar (it has larger crystals)
• 1 lemon for garnish

Like the sugar rim?  I rubbed a lemon wedge around the edge of the glass.  I poured decorating sugar onto a plate.  I then slid the wet rim through the sugar.  After a few minutes the sugar was dried to the rim, making it easy to carry and sip without getting covered in sugar.  If you are going to add a sugar rim, you must add it to the glass before adding the drink.
