What I am Reading Now + What I am Going to Read Next

I love to read.  I try to find a few hours a week to read. It is one of my favorite forms of entertainment.  Today I am sharing with you what I am reading now and what I am going to read next.  Maybe you will want to read these books as well!

WHAT I AM READING NOW

This weekend the husband and I packed up some of the books we have finished reading and are not going to read again.  We took them to a used book store called 2nd & Charles. This isn’t just any type of used book store.  They sell new and used books, video games, and records.  We wanted to go and didn’t care whether or not they would take any of our used books.

We ended up trading our current books for a couple of new records and a handful of new books.  I loved this store!  If you have one near you, you should check it out.

One of the books I picked up this weekend is Emily Giffin’s newest novel, First Comes Love.  First Comes Love is a story about family, friendship, and the courage to follow your own heart—wherever that may lead.  I loved Emily’s Something Borrowed and Something Blue; I am already a fan.  I have had this book on my reading list for awhile, so I am excited I finally picked up a copy. Interested in reading a preview?  You can read a preview of the book at EmilyGiffin.com.

WHAT I AM GOING TO READ NEXT

I picked up five other books this weekend.  I am excited about each of them!

Sophie Kinsella’s Can You Keep a Secret? –  “Meet Emma Corrigan, a young woman with a huge heart, an irrepressible spirit, and a few little secrets:Secrets from her boyfriend: I’ve always thought Connor looks a bit like Ken. As in Barbie and Ken. Secrets from her mother: I lost my virginity in the spare bedroom with Danny Nussbaum while Mum and Dad were downstairs watching Ben-Hur. Secrets she wouldn’t share with anyone in the world: I have no idea what NATO stands for. Or even what it is. Until she spills them all to a handsome stranger on a plane. At least, she thought he was a stranger.…Until Emma comes face-to-face with Jack Harper, the company’s elusive CEO, a man who knows every single humiliating detail about her…”

From someone that often overshares, I am betting that I will be able to relate with Emma.  Also, I am incredibly thankful I am not her!

Jen Lancaster’s Jeneration X – “Jen is finally ready to put away childish things (except her Barbie Styling Head, of course) and embrace the investment-making, mortgage-carrying, life-insurance-having adult she’s become. From getting a mammogram to volunteering at a halfway house, she tackles the grown-up activities she’s resisted for years, and with each rite of passage she completes, she’ll uncover a valuable—if probably humiliating—life lesson that will ease her path to full-fledged, if reluctant, adulthood.”

I have read several of Jen Lancaster’s books.  She tells some really funny stories.  I am betting that this one will not disappoint.

Jodi Picoult’s Leaving Time –  For more than a decade, Jenna Metcalf has never stopped thinking about her mother, Alice, who mysteriously disappeared in the wake of a tragic accident. Refusing to believe she was abandoned, Jenna searches for her mother regularly online and pores over the pages of Alice’s old journals. A scientist who studied grief among elephants, Alice wrote mostly of her research among the animals she loved, yet Jenna hopes the entries will provide a clue to her mother’s whereabouts.

Lisa Kleypas’s Brown-eyed Girl – Wedding planner Avery Crosslin may be a rising star in Houston society, but she doesn’t believe in true love—at least not for herself. When she meets wealthy bachelor Joe Travis and mistakes him for a wedding photographer, she has no intention of letting him sweep her off her feet. But Joe is a man who goes after what he wants—and, at the end of the day, Avery can’t resist his charms.

Jane Green’s Saving Grace – Grace and Ted Chapman are widely regarded as the perfect literary power couple. Ted is a successful novelist and Grace, his wife of twenty years, is beautiful, stylish, carefree, and a wonderful homemaker. But what no one sees, what is churning under the surface, is Ted’s rages. His mood swings. And the precarious house of cards that their lifestyle is built upon. When Ted’s longtime assistant and mainstay leaves, the house of cards begins to crumble and Grace, with dark secrets in her past, is most vulnerable. She finds herself in need of help but with no one to turn to…
