Decorate Living Room

Welcoming the Holidays | Easy Living Room Decor Updates

This weekend, the husband and I began welcoming the holidays.  We finished decorating the tree, picked up a new holiday record, got our living room decor updated for the season, and have continued to enjoy our advent calendar.

THE ADVENT CALENDAR

To get you up to date, the husband and I put together an advent calendar.  I sewed these delightful little bags, one to fit a present for every day from December first to December 24th.  It has been such a fun thing!  If you would like to know how I made this, you can read the entire post here.

It has been a few days, so there have been a few reveals.  The first was a Kingston Black Cherry Rum and Coke.

The second reveal was a Lemon Drop Martini made from Morey Limoncello.

The third drink revealed is a Red Berry Martini made with Veil Red Berry vodka, triple sec, and Simply Cranberry juice.

What will today’s bag include?

WELCOMING THE HOLIDAYS

We have a couple of vintage records that my husband has had for a very long time. We pulled these out on Thanksgiving day.  They were fun to listen to as we cooked.

The husband and I have been talking about getting a Sintra Christmas album for a few weeks.  We have been playing versions other users have uploaded to Youtube.  They have been filling the void just fine…until I found this:

I was at Barnes and Noble picking out a gift for a friend.  I noticed that our local Barnes and Noble has a music section.  How have I never noticed it?  I walked in and saw that they had a display of Christmas albums that were all vinyl.  I was so excited!  The Sintra Ultimate Christmas was right in the middle.  We played it over and over all evening on Saturday and all day Sunday.  I just love it!

I started working on a new project this weekend.  I am interested in making a pom pom wreath for my office.  Maybe for the living room.  I haven’t decided. I picked up yarn on Black Friday. (You can read about it here.) I managed to get the foam wreath wrapped with yarn and made 5 pom poms this weekend.  I still have a long way to go.  I will post a blog about how I made the wreath and photos so you can make one, too!  It is going to be so very cute when it is done.

LIVING ROOM DECOR FOR THE HOLIDAYS

The husband and I played Jenga, I did a little drinking, started a wreath, and finished decorating the tree.  We put up the tree Thanksgiving weekend.  I added the lights, but only managed to get a few ornaments on the tree before losing steam.  We had spent a significant amount of time pulling out the Christmas decor and putting away all of the Fall decor.  By the time we got to decorating the tree, all of our enthusiasm was gone.

In addition to decorating the tree, I decorated the mantle.  Saturday we lit a fire because it got a bit cold downstairs.  You can see the remnants of the fire in the photo below.  We haven’t lit the fireplace too many times since moving here.  The husband and I both agreed that we will use it more this year.  It is just too pretty to never use!

I pulled out our red cable knit throw pills and a white and red throw blanket we got from Target a few years ago.  The living room looks cozy. I am looking forward to coming home from work this week and cuddling up on the sofa with a good book.

I didn’t think that the Apples pillow would transition so well from Fall to Winter.  However, it looks just delightful with the red and gray.  I loved it so much I added a second white pillow over to the right.
