Happy New Year and Few Other Things to be Happy About

Happy New Year! It is the start of a new decade. It is the start of a new year. Is it the start of something new for you?

I am excited about the fresh start of a new year. I am also excited about a few other fun things I have going on in my life. I know you are on the edge of your seat…

A FEW OTHER THINGS TO BE HAPPY ABOUT

ONE – I am going to finish the half bath project that I started about 3 months ago. I got the design plan going, was really excited, and then nothing. My contractor was over to discuss our next project in the pipeline. He was very surprised that the half bath project had stalled. (You can read the post here)

TWO – We are renovating our laundry room. I am so excited. This room is soooo not useful. It is going to be gorgeous when it is done. Want to know the timeline? Hint: we have already ordered cabinets.

A few other projects on our list for this year: the stairwell, our master bathroom, the guest bathroom, and the kitchen.

THREE – My mother-in-law is coming to visit us later this week for 8 days. We are so happy that she is going to be able to visit us for such an extended stay. We have been working to get the house comfortable for her. I am just hoping that the weather here in Atlanta isn’t cold and rainy during her entire visit.

FOUR – Next year I will turn 40. I know…40 isn’t old. However, I have always thought about 40 being so far away. Now it is knocking on my door. I must get serious about a skin care routine and taking better care of myself. It isn’t going to get easier than it is right now.

FIVE – I have started running again. Running is an excuse to stretch more. I am getting more exercise as well as increasing my flexibility. It feels like a win-win.

SIX – This weekend will mark 8 weeks that the husband and I have gone vegetarian. I have been so hesitant to share this information with more people because we really weren’t sure whether or not this was a temporary diet change or a permanent one. They say that if you do something for 21 days it becomes a habit. I am not sure I would call it a habit, but my mindset toward food has certainly changed. With the running and eating tons of vegetables, I have lost 10 pounds and have started to feel so amazing.

SEVEN – We got a new HVAC system installed. We lived a few winters without a working furnace. We had this on our to-do list and finally got a brand new system installed. Our house is now warm and toasty. Now we use the fireplace because we want to, not because we have to.

EIGHT – It is New Years day, so it is officially time to take down your Christmas tree and all the sparkly decor. Pull out the boxes and put on some fun music. You can play Christmas carols if that is what you need to say goodbye. Looking for tips on how to dispose of your Christmas tree? Check out this post from a couple of years ago.

NINE – If you didn’t everything on your list for Christmas, it is time to save up and buy it for yourself. Have you seen the new Hearth & Hand towel collection at Target? They are so adorable. I am fighting the urge to buy a set for the master bathroom renovation we are going do this year.

TEN – All of us are happy and healthy. Laila, our Yorkie, is turning 10 this year. Mimi, our Chihuahua, is turning 3. We are all doing great. If everyone is healthy, what more do you need?

What is something you are happy about this New Year?

  1. Hello would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re using?
I’m going to start my own blog soon but I’m having a hard time
    choosing between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.

The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something unique.
P.S My apologies for being off-topic but I had to
    ask!

  3. Howdy this is somewhat of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors
or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but
have no coding knowledge so I wanted to
get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!

Is that this a paid topic or did you customize it yourself?

  6. This design is spectacular! You certainly know how to keep
a reader amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well,
almost…HaHa!) Great job. I really enjoyed what you had to say,
and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!
