Cooking How-to's

Dinner Idea | Spicy Red Beans & Rice

The husband and I have been in a dinner rut for the last few weeks.  I feel like we make the same things over and over again.  I have been bored with our normal dinner routine. This week we made something that I had never made before: spicy red beans & rice.  The best part?  It took less than 10 minutes to make from start to finish.

SPICY RED BEANS & RICE

Dinner is a tough topic, especially if you have picky eaters in your household.  We decided to go with a homemade version of side dish we have had while dining out dozens of times.  We increased the ingredients to make a dish worthy of a great dinner.  This is what I did:

Step 1: I started boiling water to make 2 cups of instant rice.

Step 2: I opened two cans of Bush’s Best New Orleans Style Red Beans.

Step 3: I mixed 1/2 a teaspoon of ground chipotle pepper into the beans.

Step 4: I mixed 1/2 a teaspoon of ground cayenne pepper into the beans.

Step 5: Heat the beans until warm all the way through.  Serve with white rice and andouille sausage (optional).
